Custom Vinyl Wraps on Library Bins, Long Beach, CA

Custom vinyl wraps can turn any ordinary and otherwise relatively unnoticeable item into an eye-catching work of art, like these book collection bins for the Long Beach Public Library.

Iconography Studios is proud to have designed, produced and installed these blue wraps on 17 book collection bins located at various library branches throughout Long Beach, CA. Because of the complex shape of the top of the bins and the drop-slot feature, the final look was achieved through a combination of paint and graphic wrap.

The process of wrapping a library bin or other unique object is very similar to the process used to wrap a car. There are three basic stages to the overall process for creating these vinyl wraps:

1. Design: whether its a car, trashbin, piano or other item, the first stage of the process is to create the design. The design stage starts with concepting what the overall look, feel, and purpose of the design will be. This step generally includes an initial meeting between the client and our art department, followed by several round of proofs and revisions before a final proof is approved. Once the concept proof is approved, the design is then built into a printable file to-scale for whatever object is being wrapped. This often includes building a template to-size based on measurements of the object that is being wrapped.

2. Production: once the files are built and ready to print, the project moves to the production phase which includes the printing, laminating, machine cut and trimming processes. During this phase the material is completely prepped and ready for installation.

3. Installation: during this phase, your item is thoroughly cleaned and prepped to ensure proper adhering of the adhesive-backed vinyl. Our expert team of certified installers will first map out your material on the item to be wrapped, and then begin the process of installing the material. The adhesive-backed vinyl is covered with microscopic bubbles of adhesive glue. In order to properly adhere, every inch of the material must be gone over firmly with a squeegee in order to pop the bubble and release the glue.
