Set Design Vinyl Wraps: “Oh wow! Not only have you wrapped our lobby beautifully, you have out down yourself! We needed some set pieces for a show we were putting together and you guys delivered big time! Not only was the design process easy, the production time was fast and the end result was truly awesome! We have we received many compliments for these! Will be using you guys again!”– Dana Hanstein-Hanlen, Director, MYART
Local theater company MYART (Musical Youth Artist Repertory Theater) recently asked Iconography Studios to help with new set designs for their production of Hairspray. The production would be in a smaller space than their typical large main stage productions, and they needed a quick way to recreate set pieces at a smaller scale.
It was easy to convert the artwork from the extra large format down to sizes that would work for the smaller venue. Once the files were sized properly, the images were printed on the same vinyl wrap material that is typically used for wall wraps and other indoor applications. A matte laminate was used to finish the pieces so that there wouldn’t be any reflective glare from the stage lighting.
The prints were mounted onto various surfaces depending on the application – lightweight foamcore, pvc and painted plywood panels.
Vinyl wraps are a versatile, cost-effective solution for set designs in film, television, and theater, allowing for rapid, durable, and customizable surfaces without paint. They are used to quickly transform props, walls, and flooring with matte, glossy, metallic, or textured finishes (e.g., wood, carbon fiber) to fit any, thematic, or branded aesthetic.
