The vehicle wrap experts at Iconography Studios are proud to have designed, produced and installed this full graphic vehicle wrap on a Ford Flex for the Spearmint Rhino company, located in Norco, CA.
What Is A Full Vehicle Wrap?
A full vehicle wrap is exactly what it sounds like – a graphic wrap printed on adhesive-backed vinyl vehicle wrap material that fully covers or ‘wraps’ the vehicle when it is installed. This vehicle wrap is printed on 3M’s IJ180 material. Once printed, the material is set aside to off-gas for 24 hours, and then laminated with 3M’s 8518 gloss laminate. The laminate film is applied to the top of the print to protect it from minor scratching and to aid in the application process.
A full vehicle wrap is generally applied to the entire exterior of a vehicle, covering its sides, hood, trunk, and potentially the roof and windows, to change its color, add graphics, or provide protection without painting the vehicle. This method provides a dramatic, unified branding or design across the entire surface, offering a flexible and reversible alternative to a permanent paint job.
What A Full Wrap Covers on a Ford Flex
- Full Coverage: A full wrap covers almost all exterior surfaces, including the hood, sides, trunk, and bumpers. Plastic or unpainted surfaces are generally not covered as the material will not adhere to the plastic.
- Windows: Perforated vinyl can be used to cover windows, allowing visibility from the inside while displaying a design on the outside. Perforated window film is great for short term applications, but due to the nature of the perforations, it is not recommended for long term wear and tear. If a longer term is desired, it can be replaced veery 12-18 months.
- Roof & Door Jambs: Depending on the vehicle and cost, the roof and the inner door jambs can also be wrapped for complete coverage. Horizontal surfaces such as the roof do not have great longevity, as they take the most sun, heat, debris and other elements. Door jambs can be wrapped for a seamless look, but expect to pay a high premium as these parts are extremely labor intensive.
